Leather Winter Coats

Hi what do you think of my descriptive writing could you please point out errors and good things thankyou?

It was a bitterly cold winters night. Sparkling frost clung to streetlamps, decorating them with a shimmering finish. Stormy winds violently rocked the glistening trees, making them sway wildly like a drunken man. The flailing grass broke free of its frozen constraints as the storm raged on and the first droplet of icy rain fell. The heavens opened. A torrent of unstoppable rain ransacked the whimpering city. Traffic ground to a halt as the never ending rain fell violently making it impossible to see. The city paused. Frozen in a moment of time. Each droplet of rain, not one the same graciously hung in mid air. Each droplet caught the desperate light of the moon that was fighting to break free of the storm clouds and burst into glorious light like a thousand stars all bursting into one joyous existence.
The buildings shrank away from the rain, as roofs flooded, windows caved and cars crashed. The magic disappeared and chaos returned. The web of wires that usually encased the cities sky line like a spiders web was faltering under the elements ferocious gaze. Rubber particles strained against one another fighting a methodical madness. The rain did not cease. Rubber burst and copper split, wires sent schizophrenic sparks spraying onto the city below. A small bus which had a shining red paint coat (although it seemed dull in the ferocity of the storm) caught the deadly sparks square on. The paint seemed to scream as it was burnt off which perhaps foreshadowed the disaster that was about to occur. The bus driver a middle aged man wore a large leather jacket and dark blue jeans, he had a ruffled moustache and wore glasses that were slightly to big. His face was a mask of concentration as he tried to manoeuvre the bus through the horrific amount of rain. Concentration morphed to surprise, as sparks illuminated the bonnet. The bus swerved into a nearby post office destroying a lamp post as it went. The fuel tank ruptured and an explosion worthy of the gods lit the sky.
Chaos raged on. The river that ran through the city centre was usually a small delight for anyone who cared to sit on a bench and snack on a sandwich. It was fascinating to listen to the rivers delightful sounds and to some it was like listening to the song of an angel. But delight turned to destruction as levees that protected the strained river banks struggled to hold under an assault from the rain. The river burst unleashing its fury upon the cowering city. The elements ruled, Lightning flashed which served only as a way to illuminate the horrified looks upon the scared citizens. The tidal flood surged destructively through the city managing to topple gargantuan statues and small plants alike.
A raven perched upon the tallest building which stood 40 stories high looked undoubtedly impressive, as it caught the glinting gleam of the lightning. Its beady eye surveyed the city below as if judging something. The raven took flight and was soon swallowed by the storm clouds. Street lights faltered… lamps flickered and darkness swallowed the city. Darkness suited the city better than light. It swallowed the screams and the horror, leaving way for only uncertainty. The only light now was the moon which glowed eerily over the flooded city like a mourner at a mausoleum. The rain never ceased, never ended and never faltered, It could alter reality, smash dreams and conquer cities. It was death.
It was a bitterly cold winters morning. A crystal blue sky was illuminated by an icy cold sun. Frost had settled on top of buildings and streetlamps. Icicles hung like daggers poised to strike from the tips of taller buildings. There was a dreadful silence that plagued the cities streets, an all consuming silence. It was birds that broke the dreadful silence, their song was beautiful and mourning. The city died.

November nyc trip: what to wear?

i’m visiting relatives for ~5 days in early november. we plan to see a broadway play, check out local spots, sightsee, etc…

1) should i bring a long (to the ankle) coat, or is a 3/4 ok?
2) are low heel leather knee high boots ok, or are special snow boots better?
3) how can a young woman look stylish yet still pack smart (aka fit into a carry-on)? i don’t want to pay extra for luggage if i can help it, lol.

i love dresses/skirts; is this a bad idea, or could it still work? i’m a california girl and haven’t really experienced an east coast winter (except as a very young child).

thanks!

Can you rate and give opinion on part of my story?

Carter Atkins propped his feet onto the glass table. Savannah Ripley and Holly Drake sat on either side of him. They were idly watching the football game. It was the hardest day he had ever endured. At school he had to take tests in all of his classes. And too make matters worse, he failed one of them. That killed his spirit.
“What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” asked Holly, playing footsies with Carter.
“I’m going to visit my family in Massachusetts.”
His cousins Ellie and Jason were his favorite. Especially his Aunt Martha. Aunt Martha was like his best friend. He told her everything. Thanksgiving was one of his three favorite holidays.

Savannah leaned her head on his shoulders, focusing her eyes on his. Carter patted her gingerly, planting a kiss on her forehead. He still remembered when they had first got together. Savannah hadn’t been too happy with him, but he made it up by kissing her. It was the best night of his life.
“You’re sexy.” he teased, tickling her under her armpits.
He knew that the spot that made her laugh the most. He smiled down at her beautiful face. Pushing a strand of thick hair away from her face, he wrapped his arm around her.
Stress didn’t seem to be on his mind at the moment. He had plenty of things he needed to study for. But studying was the least on his mind for right now.

His grades were okay, but they needed to improve. If he ever wanted that car his dad promised him, he needed to get it together and start making A’s. A smile crept on his face when he saw his older brother Chris flirting with a girl outside the bay window. Chris wasn’t nearly as good with girls as Carter. He was okay looking, but most of the time he acted awkward. He hated the fact that Chris often bossed him around like he was his dad. Chris often annoyed Carter.
“Let’s go outside.” suggested Holly, springing off of the white Italian leather coach.

Outside, it was about forty-eight degrees. Winter wouldn’t come until the twenty-first of December, but it already felt like Winter had came. Carter and the girls sat at the gazebo, looking at the birds. They hadn’t flown South yet. That was good, because Carter loved birds. He used to be sad when the birds left during Winter.
“It’s still snowing.” said Savannah, holding out her tongue and letting the snow land on it.
Winter wasn’t exactly Carter’s favorite holiday. It was way to cold. He always needed a coat to wear whenever he went out.
“The weatherman said it wouldn’t start snowing hard until Thanksgiving.” said Holly, buttoning up her white bubble coat.
“I love snow.” sighed Savannah. “It’s so pretty. But it’s really ugly when it gets dirty.”

Carter had to agree with her. He hated seeing mud and dirt on the snow. It always looked nasty. That’s why when it began to melt, it was always the worst part for Carter. He put his hand on Savannah’s leg, stroking it. He hoped she didn’t mind. She had gotten scared when they were touching each other at his basement on Halloween night. He wanted to do more, but he knew she wouldn’t like it. Just then, his parents pulled up in the driveway. His mom, Marcia, came out. She smiled at them as she walked inside the house. Marcia still wasn’t used to Carter dating an African American girl, but she didn’t show it. Just as long as she wasn’t racist.

“Hey, guys.” greeted his father, Gregory. “How was school?”
“Good.” they all said in unison.
“Nice.” he smiled, entering inside the house.
His parents were sometimes embarrassing, but they made his life worthwhile. Often he liked to do things more with his dad than his mom, but he still loved his mom. It was Chris he was skeptical with.
He looked over at Savannah and saw that she was still wearing his cross pendant he had given to her at the pumpkin patch. She never took it off.
She kissed him on the neck, nuzzling her nose against her.
“Aww…isn’t that cute?” cooed Holly, leaning over to hug her best friend.
“Yucky!” sputtered Savannah, playfully shoving Holly away.

Carter smiled at his two best friends. Above his head, another bird flew by. He watched it flutter into the new yard, landing on the pool deck. Savannah’s manicured fingers trailed up his arms, making a tickling sensation. He kissed her on the cheek and placed an arm around her.
After they left, he called Aaron on his cellphone.
“Hello?” Aaron picked up on the first ring.
“Hey, Aaron. What did Coach Baxter say about your knee.”
“He told me to not play for tomorrow’s game and to just sit out.”
“That sucks. You should have never done that move.”
“I thought I knew what I was doing.”
“Well, you didn’t. You should lie down and rest your leg for awhile.”
“I’ll make sure to do that, bro.”

When they got done talking, Carter put the phone into his pocket and walked upstairs into his bedroom. Finals were coming up and there was a lot to study for. Skipping a final was something he was looking forward to. It meant not taking one final and creating less stress for him. H

Zaino and Nxt 2.0,which order to apply?

Hi guys,
I’m going to detail my car 2mor, I’m skipping the clay part because i recently got it done before the winter and the car was parked inside in winter.
I’m going to use Zaino Z2 as a base coat, followed by Zaino CS, I’m thinking of topping it with NXT 2.0 after CS. Not sure which order i should apply Z2, CS or NXT. So i’m thinking its going to be Z2, NXT 2.0 and final coat of CS.
Also i use ap303 for my leather seats but i like to know if i can top it up with Zaino leather conditional because of the smell?

thanks,

What coat would be appropriate for today?

I am going to Washington D.C. for a day trip today, and the weather is said to be 45 degrees with rain all day. I will be going into museums and doing very little walking around – what coat is best for me?

I have:

- warm peacoat without a hood
- NorthFace winter jacket with hood
- NorthFace Denali jacket without a hood
- NorthFace light raincoat with hood
- Leather jacket without hood

I know there is not much to choose from, but from your experience what one jacket, or combination is best?
By the way, I am wearing: straight leg jeans, navy converse, a white t-shirt and a navy cardigan.

What kind of jacket to get him for Christmas?

My fiancee has no warm coats, won’t buy one, and then complains about being cold all winter. So I figured for Christmas this year, I’d get him a nice warm jacket. He has a bunch of hoodies, and jackets made of that shiny material he uses to go running in. But none of them are any kind of warm for below freezing weather.

I’m looking to spend around $250-$300 on one, so a leather one may be an option (I think they may cost more?). But I really can’t think of any other style of warm casual normal looking mens jackets besides leather. He would never wear a big goofy puffer jacket, not does he need a sports coat, his job isn’t formal enough.

Any suggestions on different styles? He is a man, he doesn’t really care much about looking fashionable, and this coat needs to be a timeless look (nothing trendy) so he can wear it for the next several years. He also won’t wear anything that looks too cowboy-ish, nor would I buy him anything that looked cowboy-ish, yuck. We live in pretty much the middle of the boonies, and I am going down to the nearest big city (Phoenix, Az if you have store recommendations) in a few weeks to do holiday shopping, so I’d need to get it then (I don’t shop online). Help?

And yes we do live in Arizona, up in the mountains (Presccott), and it does stay below feezing al winter long here. Not all of AZ is desert.

What to wear on a Trans Siberian trip?

Me and my boyfriend are planning our trip from Moscow to Japan with a fortnight in Mongolia on the Trans Siberian Express train. It will be in November and December so it will be pretty cold. We are having the problem on what to wear, we are trying to take as little as possible hopefully just one ‘carry-on’ sized bag each, plan on wearing thermals and ‘Icebreaker’ tops. We don’t want to stand out as tourists but are unsure to go for city clothes (wool coat and big leather boots) or outdoor hiking clothes (walking boots and big padded rain coat) we properly won’t be all that active just walking about and running to catch trains. If anyone has done this trip in the winter before or knows this area well I’d really like your advice.
